She’s Always In My Hair (Extended Version) - Prince
There are artists you know since forever but it is not so long you realized their awesomeness. Prince is clearly one of those to me.
I love “When Doves Cry”, “Get Off” or “Purle Rain” since I’m like 5 but I never heard of songs like “Head” and “She Always In My Head” before last year (shame on me, I know.) and there’s a lot more to discover. Prince is a visionary artist and even his music from the ’80s is quite modern.
I like the imagery of the song and the lyrics. But what strikes particularly in this song is the intrumentation. The reason I listen to this with adoration, besides Prince’s voice, is mostly guitar and snare drum. And this version gives plenty of those
John’s take is deep so soulful and has this essence. It is all about vocals. They are plain amazing, John and his backsingers did a wonderful job here taking the song as their own. The acapella add depth and power to the lyrics.
Adele’s original has really good vocals too but the real treat is the instrumental. The guitar, then the drums, then the piano leading to the choir finale… with Adele’s voice growing stronger and stronger. I love it too.
It is rare that I keep two versions of the same song in my MP3player
